DESERT STONEWALL DEMOCRATS ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF COMMUNITY LEADER GEORGE NICKLE TO POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE (PAC)

PALM SPRINGS, CA — July 28 2026-Desert Stonewall Democrats (DSD) is proud to announce the appointment of longtime public safety advocate and civic leader George Nickle to the organization’s Political Action Committee (PAC). Nickle brings a wealth of grassroots activism, municipal commission experience, and a deep commitment to the LGBTQ+ community to his new role.

Originally from rural Pennsylvania near Gettysburg, Nickle holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Filmmaking from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts—the nation’s first public arts conservatory. In December, Nickle and his husband of 30 years, Alex, made Palm Springs their full-time home after decades of enjoying the desert community as frequent visitors.

Nickle joins the DSD Political Action Committee with an extensive resume in public safety and civic service. In West Hollywood, he served as a Neighborhood Watch Co-Captain, a West Hollywood Public Safety Commissioner, and ran for West Hollywood City Council in 2024. He also served as a Board member on the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s LGBTQ+ Advisory Board, advocating for equal justice and safety for LGBTQ+ residents.

His dedication to community resilience is backed by comprehensive training, including the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Community Academy, Los Angeles County Fire Department CERT Training, and American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification. Since moving to Palm Springs, Nickle has hit the ground running, currently serving as a member of both the Palm Springs Police Department LGBTQ+ Outreach Committee and the Palm Springs Mayoral Working Group.
